Providing useful information is absolutely essential as you stated. It is certainly a good practice not to make your e-mail a pitch fest of real estate services, but you it is a good idea to enable them to take action.

Providing a Call to Action, just as in pages on your website or blog, is a good practice for e-mail marketing campaigns. This way for those that are on the edge, you allow them a way to get more information. It may just be getting them on a sublist or it may be a phone call but give them an opportunity to take action

I agree that email marketing is a useful tool to get potential clients. Unfortunally many of "professionals" don't attend to quality content of their letters. About 90% of letters which drop into my e-mail box have poor data and request follow to link. So...that letters marked as SPAM without delay.

" You want your readers to start missing your updates. "

Great point!

You want to add as much value as you can without being over barring.

Sometimes it's great to provide a link to a podcast version of your message. Here you can add even more great info while not bombarding your recipient with tons of written content.
