Reciprocal Links, Renting Links, and Sponsorships - Keys to Inbound Links for Realtors - Week 12

And now, time for another installment in our series dedicated to getting you quality inbound links for your website. Obtaining inbound links is a critical SEO strategy, and we’re using the great link-building article by Aaron Wall as our guide!
55. Trade Links. Despite the fact that many people (rightfully) frown upon reciprocal linking schemes, there is nothing wrong with a little high-quality trading of links. Just make sure that the only people that you trade links fit into one of the following categories: realtors from your area, real estate related professionals in your area, businesses in your market, non-profits in your market… get the picture? Identify websites that are specific to your region AND specific to real estate if at all possible.
56. Be Smart About Reciprocal Linking. Building on the last item, if you’re going to trade links, make sure to do it the right way; in a natural looking fashion. The link to your website should be contained within a passage of good content in a logical way that is as close to the home page as possible. Throwing the link to your website onto a page full of other links does no good. And make sure to do them the favor in return!
57. Rent Links from a Link Broker. There are some reputable link brokers out there. Text Link Ads is one name that gets thrown around, for better or worse. Google in particular has cracked down and devalued a lot of link-renting programs, but they still seem to hold value for other search engines. Whatever you do, make sure to rent links from a site that is not only related to real estate, but make sure that the site also gets a lot of traffic that could be valuable to you. No point in having people visit from a site only to bounce off.
58. Deal with Webmasters Directly. Sometimes the best way to get links from mom and pop stores, other realtors, etc. is to just email and offer to pay them for a link from their site to yours. You’d be surprised how many people will gladly pocket $40 a month for the right of letting you draft their home page content and dropping a link to your site in there.
59. Sponsorships Can Lead to Links. If you sponsor a local club, business, or charity, that can result in direct links from websites. What’s even better is to involve yourself in the content writing on any event you sponsor or pitch in otherwise with. It’ll perhaps give you the opportunity to drop some great links to your site over the long term from an already trusted page in your market. Once again, befriending the Webmaster is key!
