What Tequila Can Teach You About Internet Marketing

November 28th, 2007  |  Published in Social Marketing  |  2 Comments

Tila Tequila

Tila Nguyen, better known as Tila Tequila, didn’t expect to become famous when Myspace founder Tom Anderson invited her to join the social networking site in September 2003. Nguyen said that no one was on Myspace when she first joined so she sent out a mass email to all her friends and had them join overnight. Her number of friends has grown to over two million, making her the most popular girl on Myspace and earning her the name “social networking queen.”

Tila has turned her online persona into a full-fledged business: singing, acting, a clothing line, a television show. Her popularity is something that hasn’t been produced with the help of publicists or managers. Tila took her fame into her own hands: accepting one friend request at a time.

So what can Tila teach you about real estate marketing? Probably nothing, but if you’re looking to marketing yourself online it might be wise to follow her footsteps.

Step 1. Augment your assets: Increase the size of your website by purchasing numerous pages of content and tools that will be more appealing to your viewers.

Step 2. Go both ways: Tila really knows how to keep her options open and she doesn’t waste any time wondering if she should choose a man or a woman because she’s bisexual. You too shouldn’t waste any time speculating if PPC or SEO is a better purchase; use both of these strategies to increase traffic and visibility to your site.

Step 3. Be friendly: Make your website a friendly community where visitors can have the opportunity to voice their opinions and receive your feedback. This can be obtained by creating videos, blogs or message boards. Tila knows how she became so popular “There’s a million hot naked chicks on the Internet,” she says. “There’s a difference between those girls and me. Those chicks don’t talk back to you.”
