If you aren’t familiar with the social networking site called LinkedIn, then you should definitely go over there and set up a free profile. It’s a fast and easy way to get your name to rank in the top ten on the search engines (unless your name is Joe Smith), and to network with other real estate professionals.
Once you’re in the LinkedIn system, as with any social networking site you can search for old acquaintences, colleagues, classmates, co-workers, as well as find people by the place and industry they work in. As you can imagine, this is not only a great way to touch bases with some old friends, but also an awesome way to put the word out that you are a real estate professional.
LinkedIn also offers some potentially valuable productivity tools, such as an Outlook toolbar which allows you to manage your LinkedIn contacts in Outlook, easily add your Outlook contacts to your LinkedIn network, and view mini LinkedIn profiles inside of Outlook. There’s also a browser toolbar which lets you quickly search LinkedIn at any time. So if you aren’t already at LinkedIn to set up your profile, go ahead and do it; it’ll only take you fifteen minutes, and who knows, you might just close your next sale after finding someone on there, so go for it!
