With the market down, you would think that real estate sites are desperate to attract visitors. Surprisingly, studies show that people are researching online more than ever before. Real estate sites such as Zillow and Trulia are benefiting from the overall shift in home research becoming more popular online. Trulia is gaining more visitors than Zillow – even though Zillow offers more listings. Below is a chart of the average daily attention span each visitor spends on both sites. Again, Trulia takes the lead in keeping the visitor on the site for a longer period of time, and there has been a slight increase in the month of January.
In December of 2006, it appears that Zillow and Trulia’s visitors were visiting the same amount of pages per visit, but within a matter of a few months Trulia was able to keep visitors interested in searching their site more than Zillow.
